Bourbon Red Walnut Blondie with Salted Caramel Sauce

It never hurts to live a little now and then! Here’s a recipe we found that definitely satisfies any sweet tooth. Bourbon red walnut blondies with salted caramel sauce. Delicious!

For the Blondies

What you'll need:

  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted​
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1 cup + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup red walnuts, chopped (toasted is optional)

How to make it:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Grease 8x8 inch baking pan with butter
  3. In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to beat together butter and sugar until smooth
  4. Add egg, vanilla, and salt and beat until mixed well. Beat in bourbon
  5. Add flour and beat until just combined. Stir in walnuts
  6. Pour batter into pan, bake until golden, 20-25 min
  7. Let cool for 15 min before serving

For the Salted Caramel Sauce

What you'll need:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

How to make it:

  1. Combine sugar and water over medium-low heat in saucepan. Dissolve sugar and bring to a boil. Boil until the mixture turns into a deep amber colored syrup.
  2. Remove from heat and whisk in heavy cream. Bubbling will occur.
  3. Stir in unsalted butter and salt
  4. Transfer caramel to a dish and cool
