Yields: 8 servings |  Prep Time: 25 minutes  Cook Time: 40-45 minutes

What You'll Need

  • 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 medium apples (firm varieties like Granny Smith or Fuji), thinly sliced
  • 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup chopped California walnuts
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Putting It Together

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the puff pastry onto the baking sheet. Score a 1-inch border around the edges of the pastry with a sharp knife (do not cut all the way through).
  3. Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese evenly within the border.
  4. Arrange the apple slices over the cheese in an overlapping pattern.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Brush this mixture over the apples.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the apples and cheese.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the apples are tender.
  8. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
