Yields: 8 servings | Prep Time: 25 minutes | Cook Time: 40-45 minutes
What You'll Need
- 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 2 medium apples (firm varieties like Granny Smith or Fuji), thinly sliced
- 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
- ½ cup chopped California walnuts
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Putting It Together
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the puff pastry onto the baking sheet. Score a 1-inch border around the edges of the pastry with a sharp knife (do not cut all the way through).
- Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese evenly within the border.
- Arrange the apple slices over the cheese in an overlapping pattern.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Brush this mixture over the apples.
- Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the apples and cheese.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the apples are tender.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
